Only 558 Days to Go

One of the first billboards one sees on leaving the Beijing airport counts down the days until the Summer Olympics in 2008. We drove by the site of the Olympic village and I have never seen such a large construction project. Several stadiums, many large apartment buildings, a communication center and much more is all being constructed simultaneously over several miles. A couple of stadiums and the water bubble-styled swim center seem to be complete. I hope they can get it all done in time!
